2.
Mr. Dilip Jadhav, IAS
Transport Commissioner,
Bandra (E), Mumbai.
Subject: Illegal acts of RTO’s and
tax evasion by the Meru Cabs Pvt. Ltd.
Respected Sir,
We would like to draw your attention on the illegal and tax
evasion by the fleet taxi company with the corrupt practice of State Transport
Department in the following manner and state had lost crores of rupees of tax.
We say that the Hon’ble High
Court, Bombay had directed the STA to return the compounding fee to the permit
holders which is approximately Rs. 13.5
crores within six weeks from the date of application submitted by permit holders
to the respective RTOs.
After more than three months,
suddenly the RTOs are demanding NOC from the permit holders for their
professional tax. We are not shocked and
surprised of the act of all State Transport Department for the following reasons:
·
It is very
much clear or in the knowledge of RTO that before registering any new cabs /
taxis they require all the NOC from the respective tax department thereafter
the permit should able to endorsed the
taxi permit on the new taxi.
·
After 4 years,
now the state transport department demanding the NOC from the permit holders,
when all the documents and vehicle is with the Meru Cabs
·
As per
agreement signed between permit holders and Meru Cabs it is very much clear in
the clause 4 of the agreement that all original documents and receipts will be
in the custody of Fleet Taxi Company.
·
We say that
Meru cabs had not paid any single rupee as professional tax more than 4 years
and plying the vehicle on road and enjoy the taxi permit
It is pertinent to note that they had taken the entire permits on
lease for 20-40 years which is illegal as per the Motor Vehicle Act.
We would like to draw your attention that all these harassment is
started by the RTO under the command of corrupt
Additional Transport Commissioner cum Secretary Mr. Sarish Thakur so that
no permit holder can able to get their refund of compounding fee as per the
order of the Hon’ble High Court of Bombay.
Hence, we request your goodself to look into the matter personally
and take immediate necessary legal action against Meru Cabs for tax evasion and
the corrupt officer of the respective RTO who had not taken the NOC or the tax
from the Meru cabs at the time of registration of new vehicle or for the last
four years.
We hope you will understand the real harassment done by corrupt
officials of the state transport department as well as private fleet operators
to the Taxi permit Holders. .
Thanking you,
Yours faithfully,
For Mumbai Taximen Sangathan
General Secretary
