Mumbai Taximen Sangathan Discover Airport
Land scam Rs.50, 000 Crore
Mumbai, May 13: The
Mumbai Taximen's Sangathan has filed a writ petition in the Bombay High Court,
praying to furnish the guidelines about the security of newly-built air traffic
control tower following the construction of unauthorized structure in and around
the international and domestic airports.
The Sangathan general
secretary Sanjay Khemka stated in the affidavit, a copy of which is with UNI,
that despite joint commissioner of police (law and order) having written a
letter to Urban Development principal secretary in regard to construction of
Hotel Sahara Star near airport, stating that 'it may cause a serious security
concern with respect to the safety of the domestic airport', the state
government gave permission to Sahara Star hotel to construct three basement and
five upper floor structures.
The hotel Sahara Star
had violated norms and started functioning Ambey Valley office in the basement,
which was permitted for the car parking.
The Sangathan general
secretary has also made several top politicians as respondents, including
minister, for failure to discharge their duties as per law.
The petitioner further
stated that the compromise on security in and around the airport has proven the
nexus between the respondents, builders, mafia, hotel and travel mafia and also
illegal encroachments on the airport land in and around the airport.
The petitioner also
tried to draw attention to the fact that the leaders of political parties are
building their offices in and around the airport and are also indulging in
building illegal structure on the airport land.
Mr Khemka has sought
permission from the court to make the MMRDA, SRA, Urban Development department,
Housing Development Infrastructure Limited, Chief Fire Officer and suburban
collector party to the petition.
He has also prayed to
the court to direct Central Bureau of Investigation to register a case and
investigate the matter into SRA project in and around airport.
The next date of
hearing is on June 10, 2013, he added.
