MUMBAI TAXIMEN'S UNION CONFLICT CONTINUE

May 31, 2012

The Registrar,
Trade Union,
Kamghar Bhavan,
Bandra Kurla Complex,
Bandra East, Mumbai.

Ref: Your letter dated 30/5/2012

Sub: Morcha at Kamghar Bhavan on 2/6/2012

Sir,

With reference to the above mentioned letter, we would like to draw your attention that taximen at large are very angry on the illegal act of Mr. A.L. Quadros & Company.  They declared and elected himself as the General Secretary for a period of 3 years along with his own persons / office bearers.

It is pertinent to note that Mr. A.L. Quadros had amended in the constitution / byelaws of the union that election should be conducted after 3 years instead of one year in the 2008 AGM.  It is further pertinent to note that without the approval from the Registrar of Trade Union about amended byelaws of the union he himself elected for 3 years which is illegal and not maintainable in law.

We had already filed several complaints that Mr. A.L. Quadros is holding 2 positions of the union as General Secretary and Treasurer since 1993 to 2007.  We would further like to inform you that in the year 2008 Mr. A.L. Quadros had declared himself as the election officer and the contestant of the General Secretary position which is also entirely illegal and not maintainable in law.

We are sorry to say that your office is keep mum and blind since 1993 till date about the working of Mr. A.L. Quadros.  It is your duty to scrutinize the documents/returns filed Mumbai Taximen Union with your office and if you found any illegality it is also your moral responsibility to take immediate action against his illegal acts.

We trust in you and our legal systems and hope you will take immediate necessary action in this regard.  As per your request, we temporarily postponed our above mentioned morcha on 2/6/2012.  If your office is failed to take any legal action as per law then we will organize the morcha on any other day, which please note.

We request you to please pass Ad-Interim order or direct Mr. A.L. Quadros, General Secretary of Mumbai Taximen Union that he has no right to call any AGM or conduct any election till the final decision will be taken by Registrar or accept our complaint application.

We would further draw your attention that Mr. A.L. Quadros has made one letter on the name of Mr. Uma Shankar, taximen and he is taking the signatures from the illiterate members of the union and sent the same letter to Mr. Uma Shankar who had challenged the election and illegal activities of the union.  Mr. A.L. Quadros is not ready to reply the real issues raised by Mr. Uma Shankar.

We further say that this illegal act of Mr. A.L. Quadros is not going to justify before any authority.

Hence, we request you to please look into the matter personally and decide our complaint / application as soon as possible or within 2 weeks from the receipt of this letter failing which we have no option but to adopt our democratic and legal rights provided to us by the constitution of India.

Thanking you,

Yours faithfully,
